I'm curious why did old Westlake designs use a 2425J (or equivalent) 1" compression driver without a horn while having a Be TAD on the midrange, what was the designer trying to achieve? I thought the TAD has a much higher frequency response?

It looks like they were also made with JBL 2405(H) instead of the 2425.
