October 3 - Giskard

Network Fabrication Central:

And here's the finished HP network prototypes. The 2 uF capacitors can be swapped out with 2.5 uF capacitors to determine which sounds better. I will ship a pair of 2.5 uF capacitors with the networks.

An additional resistor can be added in parallel with the 1.5 ohm series resistor to achieve proper HF SPL. I will ship a pair of 0.5 ohm resistors with the networks. It will be up to the listeners to arrive at the proper resistor value to be added in parallel with the stock 1.5 ohm resistors.

October 7 - TimG

I've FedEx'd the remaining woofer to Widget this week. I bolted the frame to a piece of 3/4" MDF and removed the top sheet of cardboard. I guess we'll see if this is adequate to prevent shifting.

October 16 - Giskard

Here's what I have so far. One of the bandpass filters is completely mounted. The other is half done and should be done tonight.

Here's a shot of the whole mess.

And here's the lone 1500AL (far right) that will be shipped to Widget with stacks of 2234/35's for comparison.

October 26 - Giskard

I am targeting to have everything to Widget by November 8 so that start date can be met for the prototype auditioning. The shipping box for the 1500AL I have is no longer viable as a shipping box. I'm going to make a new shipping container for it. I'm thinking about buying a 14" sonotube to put it in, kind of like the way JBL used to ship drivers around with the corrugated cardboard circle for support. It will be bolted to a piece of tempered masonite and put in a double walled box.
