WHy don’t you sue Rod?
For more rip-offs, just look into Led Zeppelins lost lawsuits... ;-)
Or Coldplay. Famous for this composing technique. ;-)

"In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Coldplay front man Chris Martin has admitted to plagiarizing many, if not most, of the songs he wrote. "
Ah, ah, ah. If you didn't care, you wouldn't even spend the time replying... ;-)
BTW Some people say that plagiarism/coincidences is normal and is the nature of music. After all, how many different songs can be written with 12 notes? Well, ask yourself how many original books have been written with 26 letters? ;-)
Dave Davis' 1970 "Rats" is a rip-off from Yardbirds' 1966 "Stroll on" (Blow-up) which is a rip-off from Tiny Bradshaw's 1951 "Train kept a-rollin", which is a rip-off from.....
50 years since this one!
The writer credits at B4 "Hey Joe" are obviously wrongly credited to Deep Purple.
In an interview , Led Zeppelin (P&P) noted that "in the 70's everybody borrowed from each other"
Being a Hendrix fan, I did a bit of searching and found the song has (or may have) roots in the UK going back into the 50's but was copyrighted in 1962 by Billy Roberts. Some were claiming it was a 'traditional' song which, depending on whose rewriting history at the moment, often means an unknown author.
The mis-crediting by Deep Purple is widely acknowledged and was apparently corrected on subsequent stampings.
So, it's not a big deal.
Some kind of hostile take-over: the 1956 (in Sun Studios Memphis recorded) song "Domino" A7 was composed by Roy Orbison but it was credited to Sam Phillips. He had bought the copyright! Is this a Sam Phillips song?
This is Peter Green's "Oh well" part one. But it is sooooo well done!
Listen to John Prine's "Sam Stone" from 1971 album and compare with Pink Floyd's "Post war dream" from LP "Final Cut" 1983. Who was first? The lyrics of both songs are very impressive: post war nightmares....
The Eagles opened the concerts for Jethro Tull in USA in 1970. Do you guess the hit they made out of this tune?
