JBL 4507, QSC 152i waveguide, B&C DE250 HF driver, and Zilch's Z19 crossover.... :)
ZILCH-
you have replied to a post from my brother (amphead4) at audiokarma. he lays out my dilemma and equipment. i am very willing to follow your expertise. i can sell off the tweets, the 811s with the 808a drivers to partially finance the project. I cannot find the QSC 152i waveguides or the cab plans.
Thanks for your help.
I have purchased the waveguides you suggested from QSC.
Keyword "4507" or "4647" will turn up dimensions, possibly both here and on AK. There have been a couple of builds, but most have found them used, often with 2225H woofers in them, which may be used as-is or reconed to 2234/5H.
The factory vinyl can be removed with an iron and aluminum foil -- it just kinda shrivels up and off -- and they may then be refinished or veneered. There's a small (1/2"?) recess in the front to accept a grille, and the same recess at the rear.
152i will fit in the available space on the stock baffle, as I recall, but confirm. I'll have to unpile a bunch of stuff here to verify that myself. It may also be necessary to relocate the 2x4 crossbrace inside to clear the waveguide; nobody's checked that yet.... :dont-know:
...more often with 2225H ;)Quote:

Yeah, those.... :p
The answer is "Just." The brace is behind the waveguide flange:
If I haven't asked enough, what are the exact dimensions of these waveguides?
I think i have found enough info to reproduce the 4507 cabs.
I have a friend that is a little reluctant about the two-way set up using these components, especially with the lower Hz of the DE250 being 1k. I believe he feels that it is asking too much of the 416-8A.
Your knowledge and opinions are needed and welcome.
Thanks
QSC 152i is 14" x 10".
Z19's acoustic crossover is ~1.2 kHz, same circuit as Altec Model 19, basically, which used 416-(8B?) woofers. We're building an updated version of Model 19 here, with a modern waveguide and the compression driver used by Geddes, Parham, EconoWave, and others for similar quality 2-ways.
There are decidedly few who would assert that Model 19s suck because 416 can't competently play this high....
Thank you for all your help!!
Are those 416's for sale ? ;)
No, I am sorry they are not for sale. i have a buddy that's house is full of horns, drivers and coned speakers. if you tell me exactly what you are looking for i can see if he has them.
Mr. Zilch-
I have been looking for technical data for the 152i waveguides have been unsuccessful. If you have the polar patterns, i would love to see them.
Thank you to all.
I'll send you a PM
