Can beryllium diaphragm be installed in old JBL compression drivers?
I was hoping to install beryllium in the 2450 and 2426. The 2426 are used on the 4435. Hoping to extend the high frequency range. 2450 are use on a 2 way system.:bs: :blink:

I think JBL only has beryllium in the 2435 drivers and those are 3" voicecoils that do not fit the 2426 driver which has a 1.75" voicecoil.
And you have to be sure voicecoil depth etc match.
Furthermore, I you change a diaphragm you need to check out consequences for the crossover and I don't think the 4435 needs improving.
Where do you want to buy a beryllium diaphragm anyway?

I was trying to track some Be diaphragms down for a fellow forum member and then got distracted and dropped the ball. I have a friend that uses them in old 375 drivers and I know Westlake used them in the 2441s and 2425s that Ken has.

I think someone posted that link before... take a look at those diaphragms... they've not only copied JBL's diamond surround but even the ribbing of JBL's titanium diaphragms.Quote:
