I'm seriously thinking about getting four of these, to go with four 2447H horn drivers I have here. Yes, I know I will have to brace up the back of the horn driver significantly!
Unfortunately,...
Hi sebackman/ RoB- do you have the factory part number for the horn from the VTX F12? I'm trying to find them here, but can't locate anything without that number.
Thanks!
Regards,
Gordon.
This is one of the primary reasons why a number of us are out there, trying to determine what works, and what doesn't. There is coming a day- and there's not much any of us can do about it, unless we...
Sorry, I missed the 123A-1 part above. That is a different frame, with a different spider diameter, as mentioned. The early frames have about a 5.25" spider diameter, while the later ones are closer...
Please don't go down this road. This sort of dismissive attitude is why a number of us have pretty much stopped posting here, much, anymore.
Was the part "HF performance seems to match the...
I agree with this assessment. All 2225s I've seen, at least for the last two decades or more, have had Kapton formers. I suspect that is either a Waldom or Chinese recone for 2225.
Even the more...
The 2213H kit does have a longer voice coil winding (by about 1/8"), but it will center up in the 123A gap fine.
From my experience, it makes no audible difference, in practice...

If you're concerned about dust... while you have the foilcal off, you can glue a small square of grille fabric on top of the screen wire in the center of the foilcal, so that it's underneath the...
I had just gotten a pair of dead 2213H frames... cones were destroyed and thrown away.
Since there are no good 2213H/123A kits readily available in the aftermarket... I decided to see what would...
The one telling thing, will be the shape of the cone profile.
A true 2213/123A kit will have a bell-shaped cone... flared akin to the end of a trumpet bell. Most of the aftermarket parts I've...
Hold out for the right parts. You will be greatly rewarded.
128H or 128H-1 woofer (only difference is color, which is inconsequential to the sound)
104H midrange (as mentioned, the 104H-2 is an...
You know... it'd be interesting to LIGHTLY aquaplas a D123... not as much as the 123A, of course... but a light coat. Maybe like 10 grams or so, tops.
I'm guessing that you could get bass down...
OOPS. :banghead:
That should be 104H-2... not LE5-2!
Big difference!!
Repeat: L100T and L100T3 uses 104H-2...
Regards,
Gordon.
Yeah, if I had those cabinets, I'd be swapping LE5-2s in as mids, 2214Hs in as woofers, and make up some L100T3 or 4412 crossovers. Basically, MAKE a "true" L100T3 out of it. I'm guessing the tweeter...
I can tell you- I've weighed the assemblies, and the 122A is heavier than the 129H assembly. Can't remember the exact figures, but it was by around 10 grams or so... that order of magnitude...
That woofer was built by a different Harman subsidiary, Pyle Industries, for JBL. That basket and magnet/magnet cover is a dead give-away for a Utah/Pyle design.
I've seen that mid before... it...
That kind of reminds me of the old Vieta 13" driver... especially with the totally-white cone (all the way through- not a coating). If that's what it is, it's a pretty substantial driver in itself......
From what I've seen, the aquaplas flattens out the response, but the decay time (as indicated by the waterfall plot) gets a little longer, before things totally settle down. More stored energy in the...
If the driver needs to go up to 800 Hz, you may find that a mass ring may work better than aquaplas, since it will affect the high-frequency behavior of the cone less.
IIRC, this is why JBL went...
Once you've seen enough of these, you get to be able to identify them on sight. The bumpy texture of the back of the cone and the rib pattern identifies it as 128H-type cone.
And yes... less mids...
After seeing them, they wanted the "thicker, stronger" 128-type cone, compared to the "wimpy" 123A/2213-type cone (as their sound guy perceived it, I guess)... but with the fabric surround.
As I...
That's kind of a rigged-up hybrid.
Looks like aftermarket 128H style cones... but with the foam surrounds removed and fabric surrounds installed.
Problem with that is- the 123A/2213 cone is...
I would wonder if Lynn Olsen is already familiar with the conclusions Greg Timbers noted from the JBL research, or not.
If not, then yes, it might be useful, in promoting discussion, to present it...
This sounds similar to the rationale that Renkus used, when creating the Symbiotik diaphragms for Altec. A different material combination for the surround, to damp vibrations...
However, as that...
