    Custom D- & K-140 cab for Twin Reverb ?

    Hi there

I need a cab for my Twin Reverb head (cut off : cab smaller, no speakers ).

I want a BIG, DEEP, LOW sound.

Would a pair of JBL 15" speakers such as D-140 & K-140 loaded in a Bassman cab be ok ?

So a guitar head with a bass cab...

Would this combo allow to produce mid-range/high-range sounds though ?

Do you think that 2x12 is the right thing or that 2x15 allows simply more ?

Thanks in advance for your comments/help

The D/K/E140 won't go high enough...drops pretty quick after about 2500hz. The D/K/E130 is the monster choice for huge, full range guitar tone....that would be a Dual Showman size cabinet. I've had some customers say the D/K/E130 + D/K/E140 combo is pretty cool...*140 gives the grunt while the *130 provides the singing mids and highs. Two D/K/E120's will kill people too if you want it too....but listen to The Allman Bros....Dickey Betts and Duane Allman for some of the sweetest guitar tone ever recorded....Marshall+JBL= Sweeeeetttt

    Hey edgewound

    Thx for your answer !

Wondering one thing about impedance :

    If I'm right, 140 are 8 ohms although 130 are 16 ohms, nope ?

And if I'm still right, instead of 4 ohm in parallel, I would get sth like... 6 ohms... wouldn't that be a problem towards the twin though ?

Sorry for my non-knowledge if I'm telling bullshit

The *130 and *140 are both available in 8 or 16 ohms.

The formula for parallel wiring is:

    Code:

                         1
    _________________________________________ = X ohms
      1 + 1 + ..... et. al., etc.
     ____ ___
    x ohms x ohms
In your case, just using 8 and 16 ohms parallel = 5.3 ohms

It's not a good practice to use different impedance drivers wired for full range...ohms law says electrons follow the path of least resistance.

The lower impedance driver will probably fry first.
