Yup, DP was an old fav. Saw them in Portland, 1973

Back when doing P2P, got on a "Hey Joe" kick, put 17 different Hey Joes on a cd . The best of them was still the Purple one ..... (BUT bUCKWHEAT zYDECO was a not too close second)

got that one too....shades of deep purple, the one i mentioned is the third album with chasing shadows, blind, lelena, etc.blackmore really stands out on this one.can only think of about 5 versions of hey joe off the top of my head and my old basement music buddies used to jam endlessly on those chords.the hk amp and psb speakers are now in the computer room and are being used more than the big system.this evenings lineup;natalie merchant....tiger lily..........garfunkle and that other guy..........bookends...........kronos quartet.......salome dances for peace .....the music of terry riley...........half wolf dances mad in moonlight

Someone will crap, but I got the Shades of Deep Purple and Book of Taliesyn off eMusic as MPEG music files at 256 kbps, 44.1kHz samplng rate, and it sounds better than the original issue CDs and the remastered CDs I bought. Lots better than the LPs, too. Sadly, no self-titled third album, Deep Purple is on the site, or I'd grab it, too.

So, guess what I'm listening to now?

    Hey Joe

An oldie but a goodie--and, in my opinion, at least, one of the best--"Hey Joe," by The Music Machine, from "Turn On (The Music Machine)" which appeared, to the best of my recollection, in 1966-67. I've recorded it on a CD. Those guys were ahead of their time--black leather punks in an age of Flower Power. Their one big hit was "Talk Talk."

Seawolf, collecting like a maniac? Not meaning the number but Helge Schneider! I never knew that he did it.

(If someone does not know Helge Schneider you will not have missed anything. Is he a an artist, a comedien - who knows? Most of time he is slowly in his presentation and he does things you would not expect, except you know him.)

But his version of Hey Joe accompanied by "The Firefu**ers" is the quickest nonsentimental version I ever heard! If you have not heard it yet, you will miss something:

NP: Hey Joe by Deep Purple which I do prefer. Your posting reminded me of having a LP containing it but none of my CDs does.
