    peppes,

BTW, looking at your kits picture.

My all original 2205H woofers appear to have a little more cone ridges than your left 2225H recone. Maybe a couple more. The last ridge on the 2205H cone, towards the frame, seems about 1/2" away from the surround.

This would mean the number of 2205H cone ridges is closer to that of the 2235 kit, though different surrounds.

It might have to do with the 2205H having lower resonance (Fs 30 hz) than the 2225 (Fs 40 hz), the former may require additional cone rigidity due to the potentially lower bass capability, while both have the same Mms.

Do the kits come with adequate instructions for setting the voice coil height?
-seems- like the bottom of the 2235 VC should drop in about 1.9mm lower than the 2225 (.6" vs .75" coil), but I'm no reconer!

I'd want it done right, and I have never built up a recone kit from scratch. Seems a path fraught with peril (or much learning) without the proper tools/jigs/experience.

Official JBL kits came with the spider and VC pre-attached.

Same here, I've never built a recon kit from scratch. I have the old speakers that are complete and I can measure and check them. Instructions are included and there is also YouTube to watch. I check in the instructions, you can read within " " "Insert the plastic shim around the center pole of the magnet. Place the voice coil around the shim and adjust the height (refer to the original coil if necessary). Coil cables must line up with the terminals on the speaker frame. Make sure the voice coil is tight against the center post so it will not move during installation of other parts. If the shim is also thick, you can cut the shim into strips 1" wide and spread them evenly around the coil piece to make sure the voice coil is tight and evenly spaced."I think it will work if I read and check carefully before I change. But if I fail, it will be very expensive for me I need to pay for expensive shipping and customs fees to bring the recon kit to Sweden

    Hello peppes

Don't you have a local shop that can install the kit for you for a fee?

yes that might be a good idea but there is no company in my small hometown i have to send them. I like challenges and want to try installing the kit. But it might be an expensive lesson but you never know and you have to try once to find the answer. That's why I like DIY If I change my mind, I can send my parts to the store and they will help me install the kit
