Hello,
I have a set of old JBL 044Ti in a DIY mix of divers.
I'm tweaking the Xovers and don't have any specs for the 044Ti.
Does anyone have specs on this driver?
Thanks in advance, Ken

A search will turn up more info, but there's some good info in this thread, at least for specs - check it through: http://www.audioheritage.org/vbullet...highlight=4313

Thanks for the advice but, I really didn't come up with anything useful in my search.
I did find it entertaining the these drivers are so revered.
As far as tweeters go for music reproduction they suck, hence the Xover upgrade!
I only use mine for the Master bedroom video system.
What are the existing crossovers? What is the HF circuit like? What are the caps - oil. electrolytic, what???
And what is it you're using for tweeters for music reproduction that don't "suck".

The caps are electrolytic....
They will be changed to Mundorf Supreme Silver/Oil or Silver/gold.
My main system uses the 2404. (These don't suck)
Now that I have everyones attention, may I have the specs plleeeeaase?
When I first bought my 240TI speakers, I noticed that the high end seemed to be rolled off. I rebuilt the tweeters with new JBL kits and the problem was corrected. I think that the main problem was the foam behind the tweeter dome. It had rotted and turned into a sticky lump, the new diaphragm kits had a nice new peice of foam.

Sorry, I don't know where to find the specs.

Ubermensch, your account is set up to refuse PMs, so I cannot respond to your PM.
Well, good luck with your email to JBL and have a great day.Originally Posted by ubermensch
I have to second that comment. I doubt you'll get much from them... but you never know.Originally Posted by andresohc
I'd love to help, but alas I am more of a JBL horn guy. I have used domes from Peerless, Audax, Focal, Dynaudio, and SEAS, but never from our beloved JBL.
Good luck with your quest, perhaps others will overlook your strong opinion of them and try to help.

I had another thought. Is it possible that your units are no longer up to spec.? I used to think that speakers either worked or they didn't... far from it. There are numerous events that can detrimentally affect the performance of a driver... especially a tweeter. The tolerances required for high frequency units are extremely tight. A slight bump and the magnet/pole piece can easily shift enough to radically affect performance.Originally Posted by ubermensch

Also, you may be on the right track with looking at the network. The 077 has a bad rap as many listeners heard them for the first time in the L65 where they are asked to play down too low in my opinion. Sure many love their L65s, but many others found the highs a bit over zealous and hard. The same tweeter in different applications can sound quite musical. Perhaps you are not getting the best performance possible from the 044Ti tweeters. Have you heard them in a proper JBL system?

I'm sure some of Bose offerings will be more to your liking.
Hector,
Which Bose tweeter were you thinking of? I can't remember them ever offering a dome.

"The current 044Ti replacement diaphragms are improved. You were given a pair of them Don. I will not elaborate but here's a hint... the contact point of Cu and Al..."
Same as the 046 and 046-1 in the Ti series!!
Thanks
