Silly me - I sold my G4 Tower in Feb and got an Intel Core2 duo Mac mini!
Bumped it to 4 gigs ram and it works like a champ!
Even runs Win2k under VMware - haven't tried the newer Wins yet

The market is now getting quite competitive for Audio Test Software .

For around $ 400.00 USD ( including USB 2.0 sound card, test mic & software ) , one will own ARTA software , a Behringer ECM8000 test mic & a decent USB 2.0 sound card ( having a mic preamp with phantom power for the mic ), like Tascams' US-144.

I use a larger version of the M-Audio Fast Track Pro . If not for a bunch of problems caused by flakey drivers from my sound-card install , I'd be able to recommend it ( solely based on its' sound quality ) .

With any PC notebook running XP that has an Intel Core 2 Duo chip set , one can have a nice portable ( & powerfull ) test setup .

Here's a current url for e-speakers CLIO page ( since Widgets' link is no longer active ).

The sole U.S. distributor for Clio is E-Speakers. They offer Clio Lite for $599. I'd recommend you also get the Mic 01 for an additional $110.

- Ahh, those were the days .
- e-speakers pricing appears to have gone up 67% over a 4 year span ( for the basic LITE package / 5.5 to 8.0 ? ) .
- The "Mic 01" has gone from $ 110.00 to $ 398.00 ( assuming this is the same mic ) / though there's now a dedicated LITE mic priced at $192.00 .
