Zilch, the other crossover was checked on the bench with a pair of Trusonic drivers (16 ohm) and full HF audio is at max CW, just as the one which was dissected. I am sure it has the same parts values as the dissected one. It will ship to you on Monday.

So far I see you as being that person. Going to be tough to top what has been going on in this thread in the Altec world.

S1A, you gotta be kidding. We need someone like Steve Schell. We need someone with REAL knowledge, not me.

Yeah but finding the 802,s with the lightweight al diaphragms might not happen so quick these days.

Unless you know someone with a stash of Altec drivers with those phragms and tangerines.

That is why the Storm has to look everyday on the bay, and the goN. He has his work cut out for him. But think how cool when done. Also Storm, if you do not feel comfortable with the swap out when you find the drivers, I'll help you. Put them in your truck, and bring them out to the shop. It will a fun thing to help with, and it will give me and your dad some beer drinking time.

M19 dies in the VHF too. There's not enough sensitivity differential to do do the requisite compensation. 2.5 dB alone's not gonna turn 846 into M19.

Help me, now, 'cause I can only follow what I'm working with, M19 used a different woofer, no? With lower sensitivity? 416-8A vs. 416Z?

Y'all are ALSO forgetting that Storm didn't like M19. Too "refined." Perhaps his taste has changed, now, tho....

In the late 70,s we had Altec 811b,s with 808,s and 311-90,s, and we used 288,s on them the mid was great, but VHF wasnt, so, we got eight more 808,s to use as tweeters, we used the al diaphragms, and then Altec came out with the Tangerine which we installed in our drivers. We had these drivers on small Community horns, and they were the sweetest sounding top end. No raspy highs, just golden shimmer. People ALWAYS said our highs sounded better than all the NYC clubs.

I do think about putting em back into service!

Would it not be better than what he is dealing with now? The driver does go higher. Then use the HF L-pad to help blend output? Seems like there would be a happy medium?

I loved them, and still do. They do go up, on the right horn, we had em on Community SQ-90,s, and with the Tangerine the extension was fantastic. Very breathy sounding.

All this AltecTalk has restirred my desires to use these again, so, I went up into one of my nest storages where I got em put away and began checking them out. They are in perfect condition.

What, the 802-8D's? I'm sure they would be better than the driver in Storm's 846B's If they look anything like the G on a curve????????
Should work good in a 811B?

NO, my 808,s with the al phragms and tangerines.

We bought the better al phragms BECAUSE we used these drivers as tweeters, our other 808,s from the 811 horns had the regular phragms.

I'd sure like to get ahold of a pair of M19 drivers, or equivalent.

Let's put as much of this to rest at once as we can....

Zilch, if you can, try an LE75/85 bolted up to a 511B for kicks. The warm glow might turn you into a subjective critter...OTOH never mind, your approach is very inspirational.

    No, they stay right here.

Never know what could happen to them in transit.
