Zilch, your 806/811/511 measurements certainly correlate with my crude measurements from years ago.
Before I ditched all my Altec stuff, I too, finally ended up using 1.2 KHz with 811's and 800 Hz with 511's.

If it weren't for the fact that others have reported similar measurement results, I'd be suspecting that the ones I've measured just need refurb and new diaphragms. But the Radian diaphragms also behave badly in 804A motors, plus other problems. I'm going to move those into 802s and see if the response is any different.
And I'd say I'm just doing something stupid here with the measuring if I weren't also able to put BMS or LE85 on 811B or 511A without changing anything else and obtain much improved response plots.... :dont-know
Yup, I always thought the 806 was a P.O.S. The 802 was reputed to be better, but I have no experience with them. This never made sense to me though, since I am sure they both shared the same diaphragm, the 802 just had a bigger motor and about 3 dB more sensitivity.

1) Jack's and Scott's crossovers perform identically, except the L-Pads are wired opposite.
2) They have variable compensation, ~10dB's worth at MIN attenuation.
[Altec knew what was up with their compression drivers, looks like....]

With Altec 806A, third,
BMS 4550, fourth,
BMS 4550 plus low-Q compensation, last. Also knocked down the UHF peak ~3 dB.
[LE85 plays like L200B at 0 and 2 attenuation.... ]

Here's Jack's reverse-engineered derivation again; L-Pad's a symmetrical 20 Ohms from his measurements, tho, rather than a conventional asymmetric 16 Ohms....
