Some kind of happiness is measured out in miles
AFTER the mud wasp cleanup and the grill brush down and repaint they came out presentable.
This is my first experience with horns. They do put out the hf, but sound a bit shrill to me. Good speakers all around, but I powered the Walsh's back up and there was an incredible difference...nope, these arent my new mains...trading material , I guess.
I listen from the dining room often, and getting off to the side of these, all hf is lost, where the listening position is much less important with the Walsh's.

Thats some good hunting there Seawolf, must be lots of fun!
$5.00 for SX1250's thats insane! Good for you, keep us posted.
Not too many thrift stored here in my neck of the woods, too bad, I do enjoy a good rummage.
Take it easy.
Thanks for the interesting story, SEAWOLF97. Just try not to form an opinion about the sound of horns based on these shrill PA speakers. Hi Fi horn systems are a whole different animal.
trade the DAS to a DJ type, they will be very good as DJ monitors in a typical lousy acoustic environment....
hauled home this pair today (dont ask - its a sickness) . they are unmarked, but look BOSEish. Does anyone know the make and model ??
they have 2 8 in LFs and 4 hfs..included the grills, but need new cloth, the current ones are 70's course brown cloth. Sound OK.
also picked up a pair of "Monitor Audio" bookshelfs a while back - with no model # - can anyone ID, if I post pics ?
LATER: forum member Magnepan dropped by today and IDed these as BOSE 601's. We had some fun with the big Walsh's and managed to blow a fuse .

I had a pair of the 601s many moons ago. They are actually not bad sounding speakers but are very part particular about where they are placed. A foot or so from corners is good.

snagged a pretty pair of Altec 887A "Capri's" today..they sound fantastic and just need minimal veneer cleanup. Also 50 ft of 16ga brand new Carroll wire for a buck. And a pair of Elac 8 in coaxials (peach colored baskets - looked like factory paint job) work fine.

The ocean is fertile in your neck of the woods for sure and it is recycling to boot. Dont suppose you have a pair of 125a woofs in your stash - help out ole Wandler in Austria. I'm going to send him my le024 tweets gratis. I have no use for them.
Mac
The funny little -8- Elacs ..sound OK

nice scores!
No visible hardware if you take the "woofer" out and stick your hand inside? Just guessing! Never liked plastic GM cars anyway.
