Anyone ever tried adding the mass ring to a 2225J ?

I have not, but my understanding is you would be trading off efficiency above ~50-100Hz
(roughly 3dB less), and gaining another 10Hz or so of low frequency extension, ...
with a larger box, tuned lower being required to take advantage.
One could also accomplish much of the same effect by electronic equalization
(excursion limits remain the same with or without the mass ring).
I had 2235s in my 4341s and put the 2234s the previous owner had stuffed into them
into the L200 custom 3-way speakers that are my main JBLs these days.
I think the 2234s are faster hitting than the 2235s - but it is a subtle difference.
Tho I suspect if you could find either the 2234s or the 2235s you'd be happy.
2ch: WiiM Pro; Topping E30 II DAC; Oppo, Acurus RL-11, Acurus A200, JBL Dynamics Project - Offline: L212-TwinStack, VonSchweikert VR-4
7: TIVO, Oppo BDP103D, B&K, 2pr UREI 809A, TF600, JBL B460
I thought JBL Pro had some 2234H's or 2235H's left.

It appears they might have some 2235H-B left (B stock).
Call Pro Parts and see what is available.

Found a pair of 2225s and they are somewhere along the way. Talking to my usual speaker reconing guy in Seattle and he has me looking for the mass rings. I've seen some at "The Speaker Exchange" but they want $34 each for them and they don't look like the pictures I have seen of JBLs
Anyone know where to get the real thing or have any?
Here's a picture of the one they are selling at Speaker Exchange. Never seen that bulgy thing on the side before
bulgy thing is to be removed. If your reconer gets JBL kits, they come in the box.
If not, $34 does seem like a lot for something that often gets thrown away. It's
just a weight. A coil of large gauge no-flux solder might work as well.
Hey Greg , as a matter of interest what is your intended project ?
A dollar a gram huh?
PM me your address and I'll send you out a couple of mass rings on my dime.
Well I'm glad you asked that question.....
The wife and I were talking about that over a Martini tonight. I'm retired/disabled and mostly bored. I have always wanted a perfect stereo system.
.....So what is that (the wife asked)?
My best answer is this.... (Martini plus a glass of red).... If you were to be blindfolded and someone played a piece of music, you'd be able to point at the drummer, the bass player, the piano etc. but you would not be able to point at the speakers..... I have heard such systems.
I am cursed with the obsession of making things. That's probably why I became a machinist 30 something years ago. So I have come up with a design that looks good on the computer and would like to try it. If it doesn't work, then I'll try something else. Maybe one day I will get it right, but I hope to have fun trying it, no matter....
Today....
A two way system
2235s on the bottom in enclosures that look good on paper and are made of MDF or HDF
Maybe some 2446s on top with wooden Tractrix horns (yet another project).
I have some CNC mills and a few wood working tools and a lot of time
You just never know
Why are you looking for mass rings?? The 2235 kit comes with them and adding a 35 gram mass ring to a 2225 will not make it a 2235.Moving right along now....
