My 4430 serial numbers are: J1079-15341 and J1000-15385. If you can date these, I can put them in the registry. Thanks.

There is only one other pair starting with J1079-. They are dated 1995.

Hello all,
I have a pair of 8-OHM 075s I purchased from Hal Cox in the late 1980s. Serials are 156573 and 156708. I never got around to using them and have decided to list them on eBay. Can anyone tell me the approximate age, and also suggest what sort of numbers I should expect for measured impedance via my Fluke Multimeter?
Thank you!
Hello,
I've had trouble finding any specifics on reading the parts/serial numbers. I'm looking at what I believe are original A8's. Considering a purchase as a project. I've not yet seen them in person, but have this photo for one driver.
Any insight?
And this -
Thank you,
Darren
Hi,
I bought four L112's that were Ella Fitzgerald's, from her estate in 1997, including a certificate of authenticity.
I have two of them with me in New York, and the other two are in a storage unit in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, I don't have the L.A. serial numbers on me.
The serial numbers of the ones I have are:
#73660
#74424
1. What year are these from?
2. They need to be refoamed, but the actual speakers are in great shape, and cabinets have mild wear in a couple of spots. I don't need 4 speakers, so I want to sell these two. How much would they be worth, given that they were Ella's?

Thanks,

I don't know. How much more did you pay for them based on their provenance? Can they sing?
Have you enjoyed them over the past twenty-years?
Just checked the serial number on one of the pair I bought in spring of 1982 and it is #38283. No idea when it was made since I bought it directly from my local dealer.
Welcome to the LH forum.

Tough to answer, but look up completed sales for non-mint L112, perhaps set that valueHow much would they be worth, given that they were Ella's?
(or a bit more) as a reserve, and see where it goes. Try for local sales so they don't get demolished.
They definitely look serviceable, from what's shown (assumes 128H drivers haven't
been run without a functioning foam surround ... foam plug behind 044 will probably
need replacing also, but that may not bother an Ella fan).
Good luck connecting with the right buyer ... might take some time!
Thanks. There's a great shop in NJ, Gabriel Sound. Maybe I'll repair them first and sell for more.

They appear to be an authorized JBL shop but I'm not sure the re-cone kits are even available for the 128H any longer. All you need anyway is the surround on the woofers but JBL doesn't sell them as a separate part and never did. There are many who do sell reasonable alternatives that most of us here use. Just make sure you mention you want the new surrounds glued the the rear of the cone the way it was done originally or you'll shoot your value in the foot beyond what you spent having them repaired. This is not trivial and a good shop should know this or at least not be offended by your insistence on having them done the correct way. If they balk even slightly at the issue of proper surrounds, contact Rick Cobb (Google this site) who will ask you for some simple measurements and then ship the correct surrounds to you. Rick knows there are minor deviations in the 128H diameters over the production run and he will provide the right stuff!

Looks like 1983 is a likely candidate in terms of dating 7xxxx L112 serial numbers
(certainly between 1982-84)
Is the serial # registry still a thing?
If so, I have L166 #12590 and 12591 to add.
Hi there
First post for me. Although being a JBL fanatic for four years.
I have a minty pair of Olympus S8Rs with serials 51319 / 51320. Can anyone specify when these were made?
With kind regards
