What a great idea....thanks so much.
Found these calculators on line & they seem to be accurate.
I worked backwards from what I want to achieve....so, I determined that the 620 cabinet box tuning is 40Hz by entering the slot...
Ah yes, that is what I'm after. I never could get my head around calculating the port area for different size & shape ports.
What size would the slot need to be if I increase the baffle to 1&1/2" ?...
Hi,
I'm building a pair of Altec 620 cabinets for a pair of GPA 604-8H coaxials.
I'm making the front baffle from 2 thicknesses of 3/4 inch MDF, so 1&1/2 inch thick.
I'll be using the same...
My experience as well.
I changed my fibreglass lining to polyester & it changed the sound of the bass quite dramatically....not for the good.
I ended up putting the fibreglass back in & covered...
The 19's that I used to have many years ago were factory & they had 50mm fibreglass on all surfaces, including the upper horn section.
I remember replacing it at one stage with Dacron wadding,...
Simply outstanding work. They look beautiful.
Hi Lukasz,
You could also try the Model 19 cabinets if the dimensions suit you.
You have the same 802’s as the 19’s & the 511 horn will sound better than the 811.
Your crossover is also very...

Hi Konsi,
Here's some plans & info from some old Altec literature that may be useful.
Or you could go with the Altec Model 19 cabs. If you want the original plans for them PM me & I can email...

So you've created 2234H's from these 2225 baskets?
Yes, simply clean up the old baskets & fit the new recone kits to convert them to 2234/5's.
The recone kits came pre-assembled, didn't they? ...
The 2225 can be converted to 2234/5 with a recone kit.
Here’s a link to my build of a similar project as yours.

Sweet...well done. Good to see some old classics preserved.
Nice work!
Did you use the same drivers that were in the Valencia's?
:applaud:
Good to know that the originals are 8 ohms.
Where would I source a replacement LE15? I didn't think they were available or even a genuine replacement recone.
Do you mean maybe a used one on the...
This is the sellers room & yeah, it's a top sound room.
I think they'll look pretty good over at my place too.
Hi all,
Posted this on the technical forum but no replies......give it a go here.
I have an opportunity to purchase a set of C60's & would like some advice for the LE15's.

Hi all,
I have an opportunity to purchase a set of C60's & would like some advice for the LE15's.
One of these drivers has been replaced with an aftermarket 16 ohm cone kit & the other is...
Nice job on that crossover.....enjoy!
Here's the finished product. This is attempt number 4, so I think I have things the way I want them now.
Decided to make them look a bit meatier , so have thickened the edge of the frames & changed...
Yes, I think I agree. I'll do up a set full width, similar to those on the model 19's in my avatar, but only going down to just below the woofer, so you can still see some timber on the front baffle....
Not sure whether I like these or not.
Maybe I should go for the more traditional look & make them full width x 50mm deep....maybe have them go down to just below the woofer?
No problem....glad to help.
